Our mission is to make special education more accessible and effective, by bringing technology into classrooms and homes. We are currently exploring the beneficial uses of interactive technology to help children with autism reach their full potential, while providing insight into their world. The aims are to make the learning process fun and powerful for children, improve the communication and experience for teachers and parents, and reduce the cost of special education for disadvantaged families. IDDACT has brought together bright enthusiastic people from various fields and geographic locations to collaborate in building and accommodating technologies that benefit children. Current projects involve memory stimulation and pronoun retention games with collaborators from Invingem Autismul Association and Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle University. We are also using Lego Mindstorms as a platform for communication and understanding of the action/effect process in our Build your Own Toy seminars. Upcoming projects include a user-friendly emotional communication app and a social training robot, with researchers from Northeastern University, Michigan State University and Politehnica University of Bucharest. IMPORTANT NOTICE: The activity of the IDDACT Association is suspended due to COVID-19. We recommend looking at the associations below for ongoing activity and if you wish to get involved in such projects. |
